Hello all, i have only just purchased and ef falcon gli 95 model. Its in pretty good nick a good car all round, but starting it is allways slugish it sortof trys to kick over a few times then eventually starts, i knoe that the battery is f**k in it but just then i jumpered it and still the same problem. I was wondering what things could be causing this? (there is a prob with the thermostat we think in the radiator so eeverytime you turn the key to on while the car is cold the radiator fan comes on) this might drain a lil out of the bat??

If a new battery doesn't fix it you could try upgrading the wire that goes from the battery terminal to the starter motor, and the ground wire to a larger size. Make sure battery terminals are clean and making good contact.
Generally just make sure all contacts/wires are good.

I wouldn't think it'd be the thermostat AFAIK, if it's sluggish when you first start it as the thermo wont be operating at that time.

no no no, thew only thing is i thought with the radiator running it might put more pull on the battery and make it start a lil sluggish, the actuall0 radiator is ok i think, its just that the fan comes on sometimes when its cold which would make me think thermostat

I had same porblem with my EF, would start fine times but others would take a couple of goes. I got starter motor replaced ($180 fitted) and it fixed it all up good and proper.
