I'm considering buying a EF sedan.....176,000 K's on the clock and drives smooth and quiet. What I would like to know is:
How is the fuel economy on a stock standard EF i6 engine with mostly responsible driving?

I get around 9-9.4L/100 on highway and about 12-13l/100 around town this car still amazes me with fuel i have gone 800+Ks on a tank a few times. towing on highway is around 13-14L/100 which was worked out from adelaide to townsville however at that time the car was standard everything and the exhaust had a lot of holes now with extractors 2.5"exh and K&N filter it seems to go a lot further.

Cheers

Can be very economical cars. I've got up to almost 600ks from a tank a few times with a lite foot and peak hour traffic most afternoons.

I get 420kms round town and the trip metre is alwasy around 15l/100km as i tend to have a heavy foot. If i were to baby it round i could get maybe 450. On the highway i have managed about 720 - 750kms from a full tank.

I have extractors, but my otherwise stock I6 4-speed is currently getting 11.2 L/100km with a mix highway/city.

Mine pulls around 8-9L/p100k's on the highway and 12-13L/p100k's round town with fairly easy, but quickish driving. I'm pretty happy with it. I got more economy out of putting a KnN and EL GT Snorkel in

el fairmont i6 auto, my combined some freeway, some city and some suburban driving very normal got me very close to 600kms to the tank. Trip said 12-12.1 ltr per 100 for that (if u work the ltrs to km, i dont think seems to work out correct) I think i got more kms out of a k@n, 3inch intake and el gt snorkel, because 600kms sounds pretty good for everything else stock. What else.. around suburban only climbed to 12.4-12.9ltr per 100, still normal light driving, not a heavy foot.

Yep I'm with Ragvaror, 8 on highway 12-13 city.
I've had over 800k's on a tank (to adelaide and a bit)

and I use paper air filters.

so long as its in mechanically sound condition and all the fluids are clean and serviceable, the air fuel and oil filters are fresh. tyre pressures, plugs leads etc are all good you should get decent mileage from the car.

mine has a lot of kays, rattles etc. when stock with about 320,000km on the odometer and the original exhaust and lpg fitted it got 730 out of a tank coasting down from townsville in the stinking heat of the day in summer with a/c going and a fairly decent load on board.

it was an auto at that stage.

now it gets good mileage around town as a manual (must be because its lighter)

I don't fill the tank because i can smell fuel so I usually put about 40 litres in it and i get bout 400 kays or so out of that *11.9 per hundred was the last calculation...
but it varies with weather air temps and humidity levels. air con use and most importantly YOUR RIGHT FOOT ;)
