Hi Guys,

I fitted a jim mock motorsport intake kit which is a pod fitted inside the airbox.

The car now seems to idle rought i was thinking that maybe the pod oil has possibly cloged up the throttle body.

Has anyone else had this problem and what can i do to improve the idle.

Do u guys think this mod is better in terms of performance than say a k&n panel filter?.

try resetting the ECU, every time you change somthing it is a good idea to do this so it can learn to cope with the new parts

I wouldn't say the performance is any better, the power increases with CAI are relatively small and the differences between boxed pods and panels are even smaller. Seeing as they are on par with each other, I would have just gone the panel for ease, however seeing as you've gone the pod, just hang onto that now.

Also, I wouldn't have thought a mod as small as CAI should warrant an ECU reset. Maybe you should give jim a call and see what he has to say about it.

have u knocked a vac line off some where i remember someone else doing a cai mod and had a sim prob.

I think you have done something wrong.

It shouldn't make a difference to how the car idles.

I think kizzer is right, vac lines always get knocked off when working on your car.

when we did some intake work on my xh the idle was all over the place for a day or so then it settled down. speaking to the dyno boys down here a pod with a larger intake pipe will flow better than a panel filter and and std airbox.

There's a line from the rear of the rocker cover. I think originally it fits into the throttle body. But if your cars LPG it fits elsewhere is that connected both ends?

the hose on the back of the rocker cover leads to the pre-filter side of the tb & should be re-routed to it's own filter (small oil breather type) to stop the oil going back through the tb during turbulence within the manifold, the pcv system on the falcons isn't the best around. an oil catch can between the pcv & inlet manifold would also help. oil fouls injectors! especially with leaner running ef-el falcons. the greater flow might be sucking in more oil vapour from the rocker cover.
try taking the hose off the pcv before you start it, if it makes no difference at all then there might be a leak in the pcv system. intermittant rough idle will correct itself, if not, your idle speed control solenoid (ISC) might havehad the d1ck.
N.B. stalling your car at any time will make it run like a bucket for a little while.

how bad is the idle? is it a minor hicup every now and again or a car falling apart type feeling?

I know my AU has developed a VERY small idle hicup after doing the POD / CAI where it will drop about 50-100 rpm for a split second. I dont think the ECU can 100% adjust to the mass increase in airflow, and the lower vaccum in the line leading to the TB.

8 months later I would hope he's fixced the problem!!!

I fitted an SS nductions CAI this afternoon and i noticed no dfference in me idle. Notice a little bit in performance tho. Id be looking at vacuum lines

Ive fitted a SS inductions with a modded box and a 3 inch intake, no difference in performace at all, looks pretty but lol
