hey mate i am looking at doing it at home but no one in perth seems to do the rebuild kits
just a short motor or in bits and pieces
if you do kits that would help me very much

thanks brenton

most places don't do 'kits' as kits are a one size fits all deal. You really should be stripping and measuring every thing and order parts accordingly.

then buy it all seperatly.

Gasket set
bearings
rings
timing set
HLAs
core plugs

while your there get your oil, filters, all your cooling system hoses, coolant, a can of gloss black engine enamel

and suggest you have the crank linished

I would also recommend throwing a new oil pump in while you have the sump off and engine out.

You can get an ACL kit, with or without pistons. just depends what way you want to go, acl kits with pistons I think are about $1100ish, without about 600ish. but check your prices.

I think I was charged somewhere around $800 for block honing, crank linish and complete head rebuild.

I threw new valves in while I was at, got the caps shotpenned, new pistons went in, all balanced, pistons put on new spool rods. Blueprinted the block to suit, so yeah my work cost a bit more. But a standard bottom end should not cost much to get the lips or scores taken out, if any in the first place.
