hi my ef is idling rough it sounds like its missing on 1 cyl it was running fine yesterday took it for a drive this morning and it had a slight miss under load at around 2200 rpm but it idled fine then this afternoon the idle ais a lot worse and it misses under any sort of load but runs smooth if i hold a constant speed.. ive swapped fuel pumps to a known working 1 also changed map sensor same problem also changed the o2 sensor to a known working 1 spark plugs i cleaned them put them back in went for a drive bout a 5 km drive pulled them all out they were black... tried some other spark plugs same result i cant hear any leaks around the intake area. it has a fairly new fuel filter and the air filter is pretty clean. would the coil pack be at fault?

Coil pack is a possibility, but I would replace the leads first.

Unclip injectors one at a time while running. It should run rougher everytime you remove one. The one it doesn't run rougher on is your culprit. Replace lead on effected cylinder.

I highly doubt is coil pack as they don't just not work correctly. When they go, they completely fail thus no start. Failing that I would say more likely a vacuum leak if isn't lead

Oh maybe broken engine mount nOw I think about.
Put in drive with h/brake hard on and rev a bit. Do the same in reverse. If engine lifts excessively in either direction. Broken mount!

1) replace the plugs

2) plug leads

3) Coil Pack

4) Vacume leak

Engine mount will not cause it to break down under load, you will just feel a lot of vibration at idle. EF engine mounts are the round oil type, they collapse and settle on the mount. Check the drivers side one if you think you have an issue and see it the top part of the mount is resting on the frame. It is usually the one under the exhaust that fails due to the heat from the exhaust.

they arent that bad :) remove the airbox and use a small 1/4 drive socket set with 3 long extensions and an elbow on the end get the 2 inside bolts from the top of the intake manifold and the 2 outside ones from the side :) easy as took me about 20 mins to swap them over

Guys have done all the electric checks for bad idle under load..Small miss and nearly stall.Leads ,plugs, coil, map sensor, idle control valve air intake and tps switch,o2 sensor..Even new no change ..Tried diffrent ECU..same...but caught a post from some one...TRY the fuel pressure regulator at the back of the injector rail..It is a valve that regulates pressure like a jet and fine silt builds up at idle and clogs it replaced mine 90 dollars car has run for 4 days at temp stop and start really well.Accelleration is a bit touchier or responsive idle adjustment is quicker ...Hope this helps any one who has been ripping their hair out thinking of selling the car...Good luck guys..

Get yourself a can of carby cleaner ($6) and spray the outside of the inlet manifold where it goes into the head, each inlet tract at a time, if the engine coughs, picks up, idles better, worse, or runs differently, then you have a leaking inlet manifold - for $40 (price of the gasket -easy to fit) I'd try there first. AU's are notorious for it, my ute had it - sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders at idle and was 'ok' when it had some more fuel flowing - choke on or when the A/C kicked in, or I was cruising at 60 in 4th... Just a suggestion...
