why does the light flash sometime and other times stay on? if i turn the key all the way off and open and shut the drivers door hard on restart the car the smartlock goes out? driving me bonkers?

That's what it does!
Lock car, smart lock flashes. Unlock car, smart lock flashes. Insert Key and turn to IGN, smart lock stays on, until car is started (iirc) Car running, Smart lock Jewel stays off. Option 2. Smart lock will flash fast when car immobilized.
