thinking about changing my ef standard snorkle and puting in a K&N panel filter. can someone please tell me if an EL GT or a AUii XR8 snorkle will go on without any modifications? also is the el throttle body bigger than the ef one? and can i use it on the ef? if not what are my options?
i have a 1995 4.0L EF sedan.

ef/el TB's are the same

EL GT snorkel *may* go in perfect

au3 xr8 wont reach the origional mouting holes.. about 1cm short.. unless you warm the snorkel up and put it in and squash it againt the thermo's then make a new mouting hole to line up with the origionals, thats what i did, and filled the old whole with black sikaflex

Tell u what, the more posts you read the more confused you get!!! My head is spinning! LOL
What im looking for is more throttle response, better takeoff. I spend more time launching than cruising. Ive done the exhaust 2 1/2" cat back. I will do extractors later and posssibly a cam. diff standard and another option later.
I got challenged by a old skyline yesterday and couldnt nail him (he couldnt nail me either) I cant have this it is not good. had my exhaust 3 weeks and amazing how many people want to have a go.
I know unless i spend a bit of $$$ im not going to break any "land speed records" but till then i can play around with my intake mods.
Im dizzy about the snorkle change EL GT or AUII or AUIII XR8. I know the EL GT will fit straight on but ford wants $65. I cant seem to get a clear post on wether or not the AU XR8 snorkels $44 will fit easily and if so will the snorkle be partialy blocked?
"K&N or no K&N that is the question" Is the filter going to make a noticible difference or will the snorkle be enough. once again reading posts only confuses you more. someone with some good knowledge here please help!!!

well i still have the std ef snorkle, its not used in my setup.

the good filter will give you a better increase than a new snorkel.

theres a huge post in the "Tech doco's" section about airbox mods atm. i think it what your after.

Rushed.

$65 got Gt ... tell them their dreaming

the auxr8 snorkle will fit with a few modifications. that looks cooler with the tickford logo on it, but if u cbf'd modifiing anything, then get the GT snorkle.
And you should be able to get them for $40-$50 .. $65 is wayyyyyy too much.

yeah $65 is a rip off (mine was $37 from ford)

keep in mind your not going to get any much of a gain just from modifying the intake. I cant feel the difference at all between the el-gt and standard snorkel. If you want good take off, get a mild cam (dont go to big) and then some shorter gears in the diff. You should be able to do cam and diff for under $1000.

my au3 xr8 cost me 28? bucks

nov last year.

here is how i fitted it. it hits the thermo's so you have to heat the bottom area up near the bend, then force it and let the thermo's put a dent about 1cm deep in it. then punch a new whole in the snorkel as its origional mounting points are wider, and fill the old old with some black goo.

yeh AU tickford snorkel fits pretty snug, i wouldnt bother heating the bottom of it, as the pipe just butts up againt thermos and the top flexs enough to get in place. Just get the snorkel into place and hold while you drill two small holes through the holes of the snorkel into the the metal beneath, and just use the screws from the standard and there you go, go K&N panel filter and you will feal difference, i did :)

i didnt wanna drill into the car, preferred to use the origional mounting holes.
