What are the differences between the EF and EL Fairmont Ghia's and what should I expect to pay for one in good condition (sub 180k, few scratches, evrything working etc.)?

Also do all EF/EL Fairmont Ghia's have the ticford engine and suspension?

the front ends are different on the ghia's.
My mate may be silling his fairmont non ghia for 4k (302 v8) and he will get that. I would say about 5k but the car market is a bit gay at the moment.

keeping an eye on the quokka, i wouldn't be paying much more than $5.5k-$6.5k for an EFII Ghia! i've seen an NL Concorde for $9k with low kms!

EF2 and EL get Tickford motor and 3.45 LSD.

EL Engines are better revvers. Smoother and quieter.

EL has different chrome grill, and generally more chrome in and out of the car.

EL has woodgrain t-bar surround and different woodgrain on doors. T-Bar on EL is leather, not vinyl.

EL gets the rear number plate surround.

And EL gets an overall better suspension than the EF got. And to me a better looking and airyer interior.

not sure about this one! ef's had fluid filled mounts, better bottom end and coil pack ignition. if you believe everything you read you could argue that the ef has a better intake setup as well however both are rated the same power.

I have found 1 with 207000k's, minor scatches, good tyres, always serviced, some cracks in leather in seats. What is it worth?

Does V8 EL Fairmont Ghia get a tickford motor?
My mate bought one recently for 6K (206,000km) and it producec a note similar to XR8. However I'm not fully convinved it has a tickford motor as it has a tight ash snorkel similar to the ones fitted on V8 Fairlanes.

all V8's prior to EL 2 were the same.
only the exhausts were different (bringing them to 170kw over 165kw)

apart from all the driveline/suspension mods already mentioned, ef s2 ghias onwards got the chrome door handles (series 1 missed out). els got the b pillar blackouts (ef's didnt), and el ghias had the speed sensitive power steering (some like it, some hate it)

ef ghias are getting pretty cheap now, but most are pretty tatty and getting worn out. id aim for an el ghia, unless you find a good ef at the right price :D
