in my ef when i take of in first it lacks power then once it gets past like 2000rpm you can feel the change. to try and explain it more its like im driving with a banana stuck in the exhaust and then it gets blown out and the power kicks back in, it also does it in second and third when going around corners. some days it drives better than others. ive done new muffler, high flow cat, fuel filter, fuel prssure regulator. any ideas?

How many Ks has the engine done?

Mine has a similar feel the way you describe but its done 200,000ks and probably needs the rings and or valve seals done. Losing compression somewhere in other words.

plugs and leads.. sounds like a failing lead somewhere. Being EF, better hope its not a coil pack on its way out. But I would strongly suggest you look at leads and plugs, I had a similiar issue years ago with an EF XR, tooling round the streets it was crap, soon as you gave it a boot full it f@rt and carried on until over about 2200rpm, when enough load was able to pass through the failing lead. sounds like you have looked at things other than the leads and plugs side of things yeah?

2 stroke falcon? awesome.. nah I know what you mean, but the symtoms from the OP sound like leads and plugs.

Mine was doing it and i just got it serviced, the mechanic changed plugs + leads, fuel filter and did a carbon clean (said the injectors were very blocked)

might give you some ideas of what to look at?

might sound silly... but if you havent already, clean your air filter. my ef was doing the exact same thing. cleaned the air filter and is smooth aceleration now.

mine did exactly the same thing!

I changed leads. fuel filter. and plugs at once and it went away so im guessing its one of those, most likely the leads though as they were near factory..

Of course check all the obvious like plugs, filter, leads etc... Mine was exactly the same, wouldnt start properly, jumped around for the first few minutes each morning, i did everything inc. coil packs, fuel pump, injectors, fuel reg etc... Last week got an oxy sensor off ebay $67, coolant temp sensor from Ford $72 and problem completely fixed. Starts perfect, runs perfect. Give this a go.
