Hi All,

Im about to replace my radiator and i have been quoted $300.00 for a Jayrad radiator supplied and fitted and full flush of cooling system. Currently my temp sits half way and want to get it a quater or just over. Usually sits half way on 26degress but havent driven it on over 30degree days so dont know how hot it will get then.

I have come across these 3 radiator from ebay and wanted to know what are the differences between a Jayrad and the 3 listed here.

First link shows a 3 core unit which i didnt know you can get
Second link shows a 32mm heavy duty core from the same supplier
Third link shows 50mm alluminum radiator

does the temp stay around 1/2 all the time?
if the temp rises over the 1/2 way mark and keeps rising and doesnt want to come down then i would look at the radiator.
if it stays around the 1/2 way mark all, or most of the time and your not happy with where it sits..
i would be looking at trying a colder thermostat.
its the thermostat that decides where the temp should be.
1/2 way on the guage is pretty normal.
im running the std temp thermostat in mine and the guage sits around 1/2 and pretty much stays at that temp.
which is ok for me.
that way the engine warms up fairly fast and maintains a constant temp.
i had previously fitted it with a cooler thermostat and the gauge sat just under 1/4...
but took longer to warm up and i didnt like how the temp started to fluctuate.eg sitting in traffic it would rise just under 1/2 and when cruising the temp would drop back to 1/4.
i would rather keep the engine at a constant temp rather than having it rise and fall all the time..

Mine sits at half way and i use a 72 degree thermostate on a 26degree day which im not very happy with as my other falcon sits between a quater and half but usually a quater.

I replaced the thermostate with the 72 degree and all i noticed is that it took longer to get to half way but still went to half way at the end of the day.

My car has the original radiator and it looks like it has never been taken out to be serviced so i thought i want to get it lower in tempt i might as well replace the radiator with a new unit. Just need to find the best unit which is not overkill at the same time. Im happy to pay the money for a good unit and just need to find a radiator that will do what im looking for.
