hello all , some advice please.my oldie 350000 klm is leaking water from the welsh plug near the dizzy and i have been told that the rear ones in the bell housing are brass from the factory, is this so? if not i will have to pull the engine to replace all? or would it be wiser to replace engine totally with a good second hand unit.

as a dsp pensioner (old f@rt) funds are tight.also would anyone have a good engine for sale please.

thanks for advise in advance.

I'm not sure if the rear welch is steel or brass, but you don't need to pull the engine to replace it. You can drop the transmission and remove the flywheel/flexplate to get to it.

Do you recall if it's 40mm or 20(?)mm?

i think it may be a 40mm? if its the one im thinking of, it has a label on it with the engine number or something like that. (if its the original welsh plug)

That's weird, all the other 40mm coolant welch plugs are steel from the factory (idiotic), I've had to replace all mine, this is the only one I haven't done yet, but I think I'll do it anyway when I next drop my transmission.

Yeah, the rear is 40mm.
Replace the rear main bearing seal while you're there, particularly if it's getting on - engine km wise that is.
