was driving my fairmont the other day a truck drove past and the force from the truck moved the car like it does when you driving on freeway and truck drives past, then the revs jumped around and the car just stalled car has gas and petrol in it... can anyone shed some light on the problem for me?

I have a feeling it has to do with the coil and or the ignition module? whats the cost for new module and coil if thats the problem?

thanks for any help you gyus can give...

if you try to start it, does it just rev out and then the car stalled? if so, check the throttle cable and make sure its in the slot provided for it
If the throttle cable is still alright, check all electrical connectors and check the hoses and make sure they are on properly

Sorry if i couldnt be of anymore help......

I would start by replacing the coil and HT Leads. My EL Fairmont Ghia did a similar thing. Started it one morning and backed it down the drive. Got the rear wheels on the road and it stalled for no reason and would not start again. It turned over fine but would not fire.

I replaced the coil and HT leads and it solved the issue. Unfortunately the coil is under the intake manifold and is a b**ch to get to.

okay u have already changed the leads and plugs,
non genuine coils are about $50-$60 and the tfi module is about $60 too.
when u turn the ign to on (eg all red lights up on dash) can u hear the fuel pump prime for a few seconds?
if not maybe try the fuel pump or fuel pump relay(found under the coolant tank, green relay)
also i would replace the dizzy cap and rotor (use genuine bosch, cost about $30 the pair) as they can cause misses and problems too

this guy sells the genuine tfi modules cheap, and from time to time also sells genuine fuel pumps for $70

with u saying it stalled after the truck blew u around, it might be worth checking the earths to the block and body. take them off, roughen up the contact surfaces with sandpaper and spray them with crc or wd spray too

Check the fuel pump relay under the water res. Cheaper to get a new relay then rule it out then a new coil and discover it's a relay.

the fuel pump relay has a specific plug and a replacement is not available aftermarket..

essentually it does the same job as a standard type relay but to use a common relay you will need to cut and bodge up the wires to suit the aftermarket relay..

You can just make up 4*5cm wire adaptors with a male and female crimp connector on either end. If you have crimps and a tool in your shed then it will cost you nothing and you don't need to cut any wires.
