I have heard rumours that a 5.0lt V8 will bolt straight into an EB-EL falcon without mods to engine bay, mounts etc. is this true and what sort of price roughly?

yep should be a straight swap, prices will vary depending on what goes in there (eb v8, 185kw EL XR8 motor, Au T series motor etc), pm xr8dismantler for prices.

Best bet is to buy a damaged car from the auctions and convert the drivelines and looms from one car to the other.
