Just would like to know.
I have the opportunity to get a Tickford Head, Cam and rocker from a 94 EF XR6. I own a EL Gli. Would there be any benefit in getting this and changing over into my GLi. I currently have Pacemaker headers, Hi flow Cat and 2 1/2 exhaust, also modified intake.
I have been looking into a J3 chip like the BPR ones ect.
Also would I need to get the EL xr6 ECU 6DJA if I did the change.
I would get the new head reconditioned before replacing with some slight porting ect.

If you're going to get a J3 chip you won't need to get a new ecu, and yes there is a small increase of power, but it depends what you're paying for all of it. You might get a better dollar/power ratio by just getting a new cam and porting your current head.

Depends on how much you're paying for it, usually you get the ECU and fuel reg to match the tickford head but should be ok without those 2. If you're going to port the head you may as well do it to the current one though?

$200 for the head, Cam and Rocker. it will prob cost me a couple of hundred for the port work ect and I can get the ECU for abot $30. I dont know how much for the J3 and tune yet open to suggestions though Im on the central coast NSW.
