hi guys
the head gasket on my mums car has blown. Its a EL with just over 100,000ks on the clock. Just wondering should i get the head machined and checked? And should i go with a AU gasket and bolts? I read somewhere with the AU gasket it blocks water jackets? Is this a major problem?
thanks, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Yes it is a MUST to get the head machined and checked. The general rule is to use the AU H/G. Oh and dont forget to use new head bolts too

Ford changed (closed off) some of the water holes in the AU Gasket to alter the way water passes through the head. It is meant to be an improvement.

the au head gasket is also a bit thinner giving tiny more comp.

Got a AU head gasket from my local ford dealer for $65, he said he gave it to me at trade price because of some problems with a job they had done on the car earlier, gives an idea of price though.
