Hi everyone,

I've just bought myself a 96 EL Ford Fairmont Ghia with a Tickford engine. I will be looking into getting an exhaust system upgrade as the current one on the car is rather shotty at best. I was just wondering what everyone's opinions of different brands are and would be looking at doing a full overhaul of it from the headers all the way to the back of the system with a resonator at the back end so it doesn't drone.

Anyone know of good places in Toowoomba or Brisbane that do a decent set up for around about $1,000?

Just hit up the 6 cyl page, and it should be a "modification guide".

As for exhaust, redback is probably most known. I have lukey extractors, magnaflow cat, 2 1/2 inch catback, got center muffler and a hotdog at the back, no drone.

What ja_50_nh said...just have a browse through the modifications guide in the 6 cylinder section, will help you out without using the search function.

Anyways since you've already posted up, I run a Lukey 2.5" exhaust with 2 mufflers (I don't like it loud) with high flow cat (my last one was dying) and Pacemaker 4480 extractors. Gives a nice note and to be honest I didn't feel much difference in power...but that was a while ago so my memory isn't the best.

I installed the cat back system myself and got a mate to put in the extractors and cat...cost me about $700 all up I think.

I like a decent note, sounds alright if you ask me.

My memory is very shabby, but if i can recall, its just a little more torque (maybe is a psychological thing due to sound).

Cheers guys, not too fussed about power gain. Mostly looking for better sound nicer than the rattle coming from it now. Any noticable change in fuel economy?

I'll pop over to the proper section now and have a read.

In my opinion there was a reasonable gain.

I get around 700-800km's out of a tank on a good day, Mostly highway driving though.
