had the manifold and injectors been sitting around for a while before you put the engine in??

when i did mine the manifold had been sitting around for a while and one injector had blocked up with dry petrol residue..
and mine would only run on 5 cyl and would pop out the exhaust and idled really rough..

so i fitted the injectors from my log manifold and it come good...

i guess it's your map sensor onthe fire wall what it does is dump lots of fuel in the intake. if the map vac is of it thinks there is a lot of air in the intake. use the el map sensor.

well just talked to a mate (mungrel eb ) some might know of him.

he was saying it would be the fuel pump. the eb fule pulmp run a higher pressure or something and that i should swap it for a el 1. coz it would be running to high of a pressure in the rail.

dont know if its right or not. but hes bring one around on the week end to c. if not hopefully be able to give me a hand to sort it out. he has done a fair amount of conversions including el int xf and a whole heap of s**t.

hopefully be able to work it out.

will keep u all posted on how it turns out.

Did you fit the injector electrical plugs back onto the correct injectors?? - they fire in banks of 3: 1,3,5 & 2,4,6.

Easiest way to check out individual injectors is the pull the respective electrical plug while the engine is running - engine runs rougher is okay, no change, injector is clogged or no power to it.

hey guys . well been trying to get it working again today and nothing better.

still poping and f@rt.

im really htinking it may be the timing.

how do, can i make sure its a tdc on the compresion stroke? i tryed taking the #1 plug out and feeling for sucking or pressure but i cant feel nething.
(while hand cranking the motor.)

its got me thinking. how would a motor run if the timing was set to tdc but not on the compression stroke?

and what positon r the other cylnders when on tdc?
by memory 1 and 6 was at tdc and the other 4 were pretty well even (half to 3/4 way down the bore? )

is this right ? or have i got it wrong? (knowing me ive stuffed up )

all the other timing marks are aligned.

and the dizzy is at the finish mark when at tdc

it sounds like what happened after converting my OLD EB cpi to multipoint.

I started it and it would just run f@rt and popping. I checked the timing( had to run it at wot just to keep it running).

Was running retarded, could barely pick up the mark with the timing light, was right down low.

I then removed the dizzy and dropped it in on the next cog on the gear. There are two positions that the mpi dizzy will drop in and both seem right , but only 1 will get have the correct timing.

Started the car and it idled perfect.

cheers.
