Hi guys. I've got an '98 EL on duel fuel & recently it started to miss under load. Does it on both fuels.
I have a diag unit & done an engine test that showed no faults (Well,, left hand Pass fan code 521).
It revs without hesitation. Starts without a problem, & idles fine but on the road it runs rough as guts & won't pull.
Obviously I'm thinking it's plugs leads, but we always think cheapest/simplest

Is there a common problem with other components that cause this?
TIA

have you checked the fuel pressure? Changed the fuel filter? When was the last time the injectors were cleaned?

Not a manifold gasket leak?

Otherwise yeah maybe plugs lead or something...

Cheers,
Tim

Humor me. Check the rotor button, dizz cap & rotor arm.

I had this problem which tim helped me find but my lane would pull away poorly and I just replaced my fpr and its all better. My driveway is on a hill and to reverse out I would have to push the accelerator in half way. After I replaced the fpr I put the lane in reverse to back out and I barely touched the accelerator and I moved. I took it for a drive and it was alot more responsive. It also pulled away without hesitation.

being on duel fuel and the fact it happens on BOTH lpg and petrol rules out the fuel filter and fuel pressure

the gasket leak possible but that should show up on a parked car with a free rev?

as fiftyone said look at the rotor, dizzy cap etc and possible the aux shaft

if changing leads & dizzy don't work then don't forget about your coil.

Hang on, hang on. I'm suggesting dizz cap & dizz top first. I had these issues, once I scrapped the car I ripped off the top off the dizzy & bugger me it didn't look right, however no play in shaft or anything. The gear looked brand new too. Check the top first

Why does everyone always assume the ABSOLUTE worse? Poor bloke.. if he hasnt changed his dizzy with a cheap chinese after market one without putting his gears on it, it should be fine. Start with, leads, plugs, rotor and dizzy cap mate then see how you go.
