hi all got an el and want to know how to remove the service light( tool symbol from the dash and how hard is it to do a timing chain on these(have not done one on a 4.0l) thanks inadvance . 8-)

turn the ignition on to the 2nd click and hold the push button on the cluster until it flashes then it will go away

as above for the spanner.

For the timing chain, you need to remove the radiator, lower the front of the sump a little, harmonic balancer needs to come off, timing cover, basically everything bolted to the front of the motor.

Worst case, you'd drop the K-frame or lift the motor.

It'd take a good day of tinkering, replace and/or repair.


other than that, its fairly simple.

Whats the go with yours? the chains usually outlast the car.

thanks for the info. the motors got 320,000+ on it and i canhear the chain rattling away inside

If its got 320,000 on it, and isn't real clean to look at in the rocker cover, then you'll need the guides as well.
As for the service light, key off, hold down trip reset button, turn key to ON (whilst holding button down), and wait for beep, and spanner to go out then release button, and turn key off.
