Hi,

I have an EL which running LPG which suffers from stalling.
It happens when you decellerate from high speed to a stop very quickly, the rpm just goes down as normal but goes futher than 500RPM. The car also stalls sometimes turning corners.

I put on the AUIII XR8 Air intake, thought that was the problem so i changed it back to the stock one. But this didn't make any difference.
MAP Sensor vaccum line is also plugged in, and also installed a air line pipe from the converter to the air box a little while ago, as it wasn't installed.

Would anyone know what it could be?

I'm thinking the balance line you installed is causing the problem.
What side of the airbox did you install it in?
For best results it needs to go on the side that the air is sucked into the engine (if you know what i mean)

I Installed on the side towards the radiator and under the air filter.

I would also suggest the balance tube. Could be that it was removed previously because of a fault in the convertor. The balance tube should connect to the Air filter box with an Adaptor that starts of at 25mm and ends up a 12mm metal tube that points out the hole the snorkel connects to. Failing that it could be easy to fix by adjusting the base idle up a bit.

Cheers
TW.

Yeah, i installed the balance line a little while back, i put the hose in a adapter which is sealed close to the snorkel connection in the air box. I might have to install an elbow to direct air suction from the snorkel connection from the air box. The convertor is only 7 months old a hole in the bottom of the old snorkel was made by the installers. Although it doesn't do this on petrol.

Had a LPG EL sedan.
Same problem was not there from initial fitting.
Never fixed it paid lots of money to have it repaired, sold it.
Bought a dedicated BA LPG Wagon.
Problem appeared 6 months after I got it.
Took it to a Ford dealer for 18 Months. They couldn't fix it.
Throttle body replaced/cleaned etc.
Took it to Bigger Ford Dealer who has a LPG team and they fixed it straight away.
It turned out to be the balance tube had a hole in it.
Supposedly burnt into it around the Battery area they suggested Battery Acid. I doubt battery acid did it. But a new tube fixed it.

This repairer said they see this a lot on LPG.

I would suggest the Balance hose is the correct area to look at.

Good luck.

thanks lpg_falcon,

i'll replace the balance tube this weekend see how it goes.
Should the connecting end to the airbox be closer to the snorkel or towards the airfilter?

Assuming the Vialle system then the balance line is actually RAM air from the snorkle. The balance tube on the factory LPG starts at bottom of the convertor (There should be a 3/8" to 25mmm adapter screwed in there) using 25mm corrigated flexible tubing and ends up going into the air box where the snorkle pipe fits on, the important bit is that the pipe is back to 12 mm by then and pointing directly out into the snorkle. If yours has not got this fitting then try a wrecker there are plenty of TAXI's fitted with the factory gas. Again assuming Factory Gas the manual states the following possible cause for stalling on gas (verbatim).

1/. Leaks in the Balance line. (even a very small pin hole may cause a problem)
2/. The engine base idle is set too low.
3/. The idle jet on the convertor is blocked.
4/. Convertor is over-fuelling or rich at idle.
5/. The ISC motor is malfunctioning.
6/. Water in the Balance line.

You can discount 5 if it is OK on petrol.

Cheers
TW.
