I don't know if it will do much for power, but you should find that your gearbox works better!
When I changed the stock ECU in my EF GLi for the XR6 version, I found that I was able to get a few more revs before each gearchange; also the shifts were faster and firmer than before.

Send a PM to bfturb on this forum. I know he has one for sale. He's just too lazy to advertise it.

OK, so you have an ED XR6 Manual with the XR6 Manual ECU.

Changing to an EL XR6 Manual ECU will only be of benefit IF you are going to do the BBM Conversion. The fuel and ignition maps will suit the BBM etc.

The ECU in the above link is for an Auto ECU, and this is of NO USE to you if you have a manual car.

The only time the EL XR6 ECU will help the transmission is if you have an auto, as the gear mapping is much improved in the later cars.

Cheers
BenJ

for a start the ef ecu wont fit a ed only the EL ecu's will fit the ed as they are 60 pin and the ef ecu had more pins and wouldn't plug into a ed unless you changed the whole loom

Good point. I missed that he mentioned the EF ECU in his first post.

ea/eb/ed/el have a 60 pin ecu and plug
and ef has a 104 pin ecu and plug not sure on the au but maybe the same as an ef?
but someine may correct me on the AU ones

Yes, the AU ECUs have 104 pins like the EF ECUs as they both use the coil pack ignition system.
