Ive just bought and installed a EL xr6 motor for my EL wagon , apart from the issue of trying to get the torque converter back on everything went ok . my only issue being the motor turns over but wont start . nice strong spark , fuel pressure/pump good just wont start.
ive asked some questions to my local ford dealer and some mechanics and ive two answers ...
1 .i needed the computer that came with the motor or it wont run ( but it turns over ??? )
2. it should start with the original computer with a slight drop in power 2-3 Kw's ( does not start?)

any help would greatly be appreciated cheers guys .

ps . shoot the ford designer for putting the starter right under the inlet manifold like that ! :D

Did you pull the dizzy out as part of the swap?

It is quite easy to install the dizzy 180 degrees out.

i was just checking some other posts here and found out that my new motor is a hybrid (el xr6 96DT ). would this have any thing to do with it not starting its a 97 model wagon . ive narrowed down that im not gettin fuel passed the injectors which are working . as i said earlier ive good fuel pressure and spark . and does anyone know whats the story with the hybrid motor ????

fuel lines are on backwards... it happens very easy. apart from that did you hook up the pink wire to the dizzy? it sounds like one of those 2

ECU WILL NOT ALTER WEATHER IT RUNS OR NOT, i had an EL Tickford motor with BBM and thermos running off a stock NC fairlane ECU with no problems

Got it running !! huggiebear you were right it was the fuel line !! i followed the lines exactly from the original motor and set up , but it was wrong . had a few other issues but got them going quickly very happy though . not bad for a carpenter i guess .

Ahh the good old fuel line reversal, got to hate that...better then not putting it on properly and losing about 2 litres of fuel all over the concrete floor, surely did clean the oil off the floor haha.

Good on you and happy driving :D.
