When ever my car is cold it will idle very rough and miss under load. If im light with the throtlle it will drive ok and not miss but as soon as light throttle is applied it will miss. As it reaches operating temp the problem slowly goes away.

Any suggestions?

Im changing leads and plugs today too see if that makes any difference.

heers,
Woody.

could be coolant/water in the combustion chamber.whilst overnight small amount of water/coolant leaks into the cylinder and when you go to start it in the morning it runs rough and misses, but once the water has cleared the car runs fine.Good way to test to see if it is leaking is to take the car for a good drive to get it to operating temperature or go for a 20km drive then best to leave it over night but in the morning remove all the spark plugs and disconnect the coil lead or harness to prevent sparking and then crank the engine and observe the spark plug holes to see if any water comes out.Or you could have leaking injectors.hope that helps

IAT sensor (Intake Air Temp) located on the intake manifold just ondet the throttle body. About $35 from Repco. If this is faulty it will run crap until engine warms up. Mine was coughing and that on a cold start, replaced the IAT sensor and all good. You may as well do the Oxygen sensor at the same time.

You wont really notice a difference in economy as if faulty it effects util its warm then its ok. The oxy sensor would change it alot tho

ok went out this morning and the car started and ran fine cold for about 3 mins. then the splutter came back. It happened as i took off on a hill start. it spluttered then came good as i changed and applied throttle in 2nd it came back so i let off and slowly reapplied the throttle and since it has been ok. Ive recently replaced my fuel filter, plugs and leads so i dont think thats any of the problem

Is the splutter a real jerk in the car? I had similiar problems, until it became worse and worse. Problem was the head...

its a splutter, like a cylinder is down. The noise sounds very "head gaskety" but why would it be intermittant? If it was the head gasket wouldnt the problem be constant?

When your engine is cold, there is probably a slight hole in the head or surrounds. Could be anywhere. As the car warms up, the metal in the engine will expand, sealing the hole. This is what I put it down too.

If your problem is like mine, soon it will even run s**t when at operating temp.
