So what to people reckon? What's a better buy?
5 to 7 grand for the ED XR6 or 9 to 12 for the EL XR6.
I bought my EL for about $10k and I love it... but I hear that the ED is a bit light and hence quicker down the quarter, especially with the 5 speed, anyone know this for sure?

Either way, if you were in the market, which one would you buy?

think if it like this, if u get the ED, you have 4k extra. That could go into the engine rebuild + a few other mods which would assure a faster car than the EL.

personally i like the EF/EL Shape, and EL's are apparently a little lighter on fuel, but as has been said 4k is alot of money for mods, so i dunno, it would come down to k's etc, and id consider a futura or a GLi and adding the XR fruit too depending on price

EL definately looks nicer on outside.
But I reckon ED has nicer Seats, nice MOMO wheel if your lucky, and yeah you have some money left for mods.

i reckon ed's look tuffer. slight bias though.

yes ebxr6 was the fastest 6cyl e-series.
so the ed would beat the el down the track.

and like the other guy siad, you have got 4k to play with :D

The ED's look tough, but the EL's are still the best looking XR both inside and out, cause lets face it the ED dash is starting to show its age a bit these days. The interior trim is average in the ED's as well.
For 4k though , you can make one nice looking or fairly quick ED!

4kw more power. K's dont mean a thing if it is serviced regularly.

Also with 4k you could probably do some engine mods and maybe put in a EF/EL interior.

Oh is it only that much more power. well then, its basicly down to which shape u like more and would 4k worth of mods be more of worth than the shape?

The interior is the biggest factor for me.

There are two main reasons I'd take the EL over the ED.

The biggest reason is the interior in the EL is soooo far ahead of that in the EA-ED she aint funny.

And on a lesser note, the tourque curve of the EL is heaps fatter than the ED.

Get ED. Every man and his dog has an ef/el, do something different. I agree with carl in saying EDs look tougher. And also that 4k can go into mods. SO GO THE ED!

Go the ED for speed - or if you want to the look go the EL!!

It's a tough question cause they are both such good cars!!
