 Post subject: ELECTRICAL TROUBLES WITH EL GLI WAGON

WHILE DRIVEING ALONG THE MOTOR JUST SHUT DOWN, AFTER SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING, THE ENGINE RELAY FUSE BLOWN( UNDER BONNET) MOTOR TURNS OVER NO PROBLEMS BUT WONT RUN BECAUSE AS SOON AS YOU CRANK THE ENGINE FUSE KEEPS BLOWING OUT,ITS SHORTING OUT SOMEWHERE. ANYONE OUT THERE HAD A SIMILAR PROB,IF SO, WHAT CAN I DO BEFORE I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO AN AUTO ELECTRICIAN? HELP PLEASE? :? :shock: :(

firstly, what electrical work have you done to the car?


Try a few things,
Undo the fuel pump relay, (under the overflow bottle)
Undo the o2 sensor and any other Large consumables in the car.

Slowly reconnect the items until it blows, with any luck, you'll find it quick smart.

THE CAR IS ABSOLUTELY STOCK EXCEPT THE LAST OWNER HAD A CD PLAYER PUT IN, AND EVERYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR WORKS. GOT ME BUGGERED. THANKS FOR THE IDEAS.

well like most home job cd players, people do poor connections and in time, they come apart and short with other wires. So pull it out and have a look.

Also, stop using capslock, I feel like your yelling at me.

thanks but wasnt a home job. sorry about the caps lock i didnt mean to yell.lol..plus the cd player/radio works fine.
