I'm in the process of rebuilding the partially worked (160rwkw) 4l in my XG ute and want to convert it to full electronic ignition, i.e. no distributor like ef's. the reason bieng i have an ef xr6 ecu.

Can anyone tell me how the ef's were set up? like how and where the coil packs are positioned and wired up?
Has enyone else done this conversion, cause any help would be greatly apprecited.........

The next stage of my rebuilt engine is gonna have an au crank, 40thou overbore, compression set at about 10.2 - 10.5running on 98ron, ef or au inlet manifold, au injectors, and twin thermo fans, with a megasquirt 2 down the track hopefully.
With these mods i'm hoping to get around 175+rwkw??????

For starters the EF ECU has 106 pins ( if I remember ), and the XG ute has 60 pins, so the ECU connector is way different.
You might need an EF harness, and definately a workshop manual with electrical schematics.

initially, id stick with the dizzy setup, its much easier to adjust the timing to suit compression / cam etc.. with an EF setup its quite hard to make any changes unless you have the MS2 up and running
