hey guys, still having trouble with the new tickford, last post i was told to get a timing light and reset timing back to 0deg TDC, so did that as best i could, its about half an inch to the right of the timing marker. didnt do much different, but at least it was drivable, havnt started the car in just over a week, and now the problem is worse, it keeps spitting out black oil like stuff out of the exhuast (not sure if its oil or unburnt fuel) and will stall when i put it in gear, i changed the spark plugs over, they were jet black, but the new plugs hasnt really seemed to have made a difference.

any suggestions as to what would be causing the stuff to come out of the exhaust? and where i should look next?

have you tried running the engine without the J3 chip?

lol certainly could...
was the tune made for your car, or a generic tune, or a chip you got from someone who already had it running?

it was a preset tune, 6DJA for tickford engine.

Just checked over the timing of the car just now, and water has started pouring out of the side of the engine, i cant see exactly where but its def coming from around/behind the distributor, it was like a needle sized stream pouring out even after i stopped the car running.. bad???

it could just be coming fomr the thermostat housing or the heater pipe joins.
but if its coming from the join between the head and the block then it could be a head gasket.

do a compression test if you have a tester, that will answer quite a few questions
