My car has been playing up on me again. everytime i start the car it stops turning the engine, engine doesn't fire, and there is a sound. Sounds like a electric motor going full blast.

i was just wondering what the problem is? could it be the starter motor not turning the engine or something? im getting annoyed with it so please help me

sounds like the starter motor is turning over but not engaging with the gears on the flywheel i sugest taking it off and getting it checked out

yeah starter solenoid it sounds like, just do an exchange one with an auto elec, or get a new one, I suspect about $230 new but dont quote me.

i went to autobahn to get a price on the starter motor but its like 180 bux. and i thought it mightve been the starter motor not engaging with the gear, becos when i moved the gear stick around from P to N and back it sometimes starts and the gear stick moves. how much would it cost to get a new one installed if i bought my own starter motor?

is it possible to wear out the fly wheel becos the starter motor is not engaging the fly? like would it grind away the teeth?

Yes if the solenoid is slow and hasn't thrown the starter cog into the flywheel ring gear. If the solenoid is just jammed then it wont wear out.

my car didn't want to start last nite and made that electric motor noise again. this morning the car started up like normal. its like the car wants to sleep at nite and drive at day.

does anyone know how much and how long it would take to get it fixed?

It would cost about $50 for a mechanic to fit it (should take no longer then an hour), or I can do it if you like, live anywhere near narre warren.

i live in thomastown, which is like 45 mins from ur place haha. problem is that my car won't start so i won't get there in the first place. when it starts straight to the mechanic. hopefully its just my starter motor and i haven't worn out the flywheel gear.
