hi

what can yous do to a 4.0L i6 engine to get similar torque to a v8 and have super smooth idle and keep the fuel consumption the same as a i6 wether std or xr6 i6 without a v8 conversion.

would a std full xr6 conversion with a new head gasket give similar torque to a v8 and would a full xr6 conversion with a new head gasket and a high torque cam that gives low down torque give similar torque to a v8

hey mate,
convert to manual, if u want ridicuasly of the mark speed go for 4.11 diff otherwise get ur hands on a 3.45
and contact cms in liverpool about a cam, in my opinion do these mods with a nice maybe stage 3 cam for what ur looking at

agreed, with only a few kw differance plus that extra weight i would like to see a stock 6 and a stock 8 go each other see how much differance there really is

chuck a supercharger into it!!!... :D
the amount of torque you will get will be outstanding compared to std..
drive it sensibly and it will use aprox the same amount of fuel as a std one..

a 4L would be better than an 8 anyday, they weigh more which means harder on the brakes, more weight to pull while accelerating, cost more on fuel. the only thing there good for is the V8 Rumble. they might be better at cornering cause the have more weight in the front end, but not by much. but it aint hard to get 400rwhp out of a windsor or cleveland Naturally aspirated, try get that out of a 4L.

does a full xr6 conversion go as quick as a v8 or give the same torque with the windsor 165 kws and the xr6 161 kws just wondered

if you put a el xr6 engine and use a ed auto xr6 computer wether you keep the ed multibelt or a single belt and wether or not you use a bigger alternator and thermo fans.

where would you put a screw in thermo switch to can you drill a hole in the top thermostat housing and tap a thread just wondered and what switchs best a switch that turns on at 90 deg just wondered

would the xr6 give as much torque as a v8 and is the xr6 fuel consumption the same as a std 4.0L

and if you put a high torque cam in a xr6 engine will it give as much torque as a v8

will a xr6 engine conversion (engine and ecu) plug straight into a ed fairmont 6 cyl wiring harness without mods

cannot use ed computer with el unless u use log manifold, but then your reducing torque and the bbm provides more off the mark torque

an XR6 engine and ecu will be a direct swap as long as you have got the right gearbox for the ecu. if you dont want to mod anything just get it from an ED XR6 or a EB XR6.

if you use a el xr6 head and block with a ed xr6 ecu and log manifold (only reason is el would have lower kms and you'd more likely find a el fairmont ghia head and block) will the ed famirmont options still work as well as the ed gearbox or a el one too

can use almost any auto ecu from early e series as options, power windows, cruise etc are controlled by the bcm

yea any early ecu will work..you can use el ecu aswell...
but the power windows are seperate and the cruise control has its own seperate module, neither are controled by bcm..
