I have an AUII XR6 Ute approaching 200,000km on the odo.
I know the motor has a bit in it yet, but i am also about 12months off getting my open licence and want to upgrade power but keep the ute. So my question is... Is there any crate/other motors that drop into an AUII XR6 easily? Or if you know a better idea, could you let me know... Thanks.

Use the 12 months to build a motor that can happily cop forced induction.
Then throw it in when you get your open licence.
Keep the original motor away somewhere after the changeover incase you ever wish to swap it back to stock.
Use the 12 months and do the job properly. Build a reliable motor to last and upgrade the suspension , brakes etc as you go.

More people paid for a ride in a VT commodore then an AU Falcon so the VT is superior.
Based on that fact my Mum is the best around!

200,000? It's barely broken in  Are you noticing any issues? What's the compression like?

I bought it about 6 months ago, for roughly $10k. Since then I have spent about $4-5k on repairs including a blown head, stripped VCT and a few other non-engine related things... Now about ready for a new clutch. So yeah have noticed a few issues..

Umm compression was ok... If I have a look around I can find the RACQ compression test, but yeah remember figures off the top of my head. Just from curiosity, how do you test cylinder compression?

CMS 4.5 litre... Would anyone know an approximate cost for the switch of engine?

I know you said you want to keep it but sell it and get a faster ute instead.
