hey went for a drive up to sugarloaf the other night its a lookout some quite steep hills nothing to bad bud i wasnt really flogging the car up there and my exhaust manifold was glowing why is this do i have a problem or not

Blocked cat or overly retarded timing are the 2 obvious answers that come to mind.

I support blocked cat theory as you said not flogging it.

2 options here,
1. New Cat
2. Gut the cat.

if i get a 2 1/2 exhaust will that fix it

No, you'll still need to fix the catalytic converter since the exhaust gases go through the catalytic converter before it goes through the rest of the length of the exhaust system. That is assuming it is the catalytic converter that is at fault.

Take it to an exhaust shop and let them take a look at it.
