does your exhaust still pick up over the whole rev range with no resie and rear muffler?

look at it this way. it'll be cheaper to have no resinator to begin with and fit one if it's too loud, than it will be to buy one and then pay to have it removed later because you wanted more noise!
With that said I'd recomend a hot dog.

I got 2.5" catback with hi-flow cat, stock headers. RPD R4 Cam (lumpy as hell! one of biggest cams out). I nail it everywhere, past coppers and never had any problems. Sounds very tough mate.. no-one believes its not a V8 until I show em the bay.

Tips are 2.5" inlet into twin 3" tips M3 style.

Might do a sound clip of mine next week after I fit my cam. Must have the right resi on mine as no tinny sound to it at all. Even thought it was a bit loud when I got done. GF tells me it too loud. I even gained about 80 odd k's to a tank of gas. Now that was a bonus!

would i be right in assuming that any extractors (pacey's, JMM etc) would alter the noise like that?

does high flow cat make much of a difference?

i think and i might not be right here

but extractors change the sound very little and often people think the whole system sounds better without extractors.

however a high flow cat i think is what allows the car to make the popping/backfiring type noise when its decelerating slowly such as engine braking. i get lots of popping sort of noise while engine braking but alot of others dont with just a cat back system, and im fairly sure its because ive got a high flow cat.

the popping sound is now 2-3 times louder and happens in more gears at more speeds since removing my resonator. im fairly sure its cos the cat is letting more gasses out while under engine braking.

either way with a full system and high flow cat and extractors and no resonator just straight through(or hotdog) you will definatley get a very aggresive engine note and performance gain, well worth the money in my opinion.

I'll post up a vid/clip of my zorst when I take it.
its a 2.5inch lukey with single centre mufler, std headers (for now). pretty loud, doesnt drone much, only in 2nd gear really through about 2500-3250rpm. at 60 or 100kms you can barely tell you have a zorst (from inside the car at least).
