Actually, if you dont have a single muffler already, that'd be the only thing worth changing. Most turbos still run a 2.5" zorst, so they must flow pretty well....

Why did you go and ask the same question again in a different section?

3" on a turbo 2L is huge overkill, but it seems like everyone does it, just so they can be loud and f@rt along.

If a 2.5" mandrel bent zorst with 1 high flow muffler is too restrictive for a 1.8L car then why the f**k do we upgrade to one? And why do 5L V8s run either a dual 2 or 2.25" system or a 3" system? Surely with that logic they should be running in excess of a single 4" zorst????

As per PM

Quote:

no offence mate i think u r a nob the reason i asked it in 2 sections is cos this question is more aimed at the knowledge of those guy's and so i dont get guys like u givin me answers that r s**t and my 10 yr old sister would give!!!

as all imports have either 3 or 3.5" even 4 in zorsts fitted on rb 20, 25 and 26's

so u sayin about 3" bein over kill on 1.8 and 2.0l's is bull s**t!!!! soi when u actually know the answer tell me not talk s**t!!!!!!!

2.5in doesnot let a turbo breath 2 higher power than 168rwkws as my mate prover on his el!!!!!!

so u may think im a tosser but u have no idea about zorsts on forced carz!!!

Unless your making in excess of 1000hp, I fail to see the point of a 4" exhaust, let alone 3.5". Pretty sure everyone here would agree with me that a 3" exhaust on 1.8L is overkill. Do you think its possible to flow that much air?
Also I didnt realise all imports were fitted with 3" and were RBs. My bad.

Wake the f**k up.

it doesnt matter if a car is turbo/6cyl/8cyl, exhaust only matters on the amount of exhaust gas it has to flow. Most 1.8L and 2L cars with 3in exhausts are there for the wank factor (sorry to put it bluntly), there are exceptions when the car is making high power (and hence flows more air). On a turbo 4L car 3in is pretty much what most people run as it easily flows enough gas. I have seen 2.5in exhausts used on many 250rwkw cars by people who aren't just after a lound exhaust.

so to answer your question 2.5in should be fine and i would save the money of getting 3in.

True, if its a 4 inch system you are referring to-mate dont bother. I know a guy who put a 3.5 inch cat back, with a 5inch cannon at rear mate, when he drives past my house, i look twice to ensure its not a KENWORTH PRIME MOVER no crap it sounds pathetic and drones more then crash test dummies singer in mmmmm mm song.... :P

put in on, and then you'll take it off....and try a 2.5 on the 180- it wont blurt like a burpin fat guy- and actually send the pressure out dude....

eg: have a look at the set up exaust of a yzr 250 dirt bike, see how tiny the hole become at the end.......bit off topic, but you get the drift???

its actually 'exhaust' dude

to the thread starter - just becaues all the ricers run drainpipes out the back doesn't mean they have to or that it gives the most power. it is purely wank factor. if you look underneath a lot of them will be running 3". have a look at our humble aussie falcon 6. xr6t to be precise. those things make towards 300rwkw with a stock system - 2.5". upgrading the exhaust nets no real gain and in some cases will lose power.

there's also plenty around running into the 9's and 10's and there's no drainpipe coming out the back. a 4.0L will be pumping out more exhaust than your 2.5 and 2.6's.

mate you should come to the grafton races and check out the cars that race there, there are xf's ea's au's and commodes, not one has anything over 2.5 inches.

i know its abit out of left field but bigger doesn't mean better.

the best size exhaust is the 2.5 as it gives the best all round performance.
