Hey guys, a little while ago i got a set of XForce Extractors, Magnaflow Cat, 2 1/2 inch mandrel bend cat back with a resi, and both mufflers.

It sounds good, but i think i want it a little louder, yet, not overly droning on steady RPM

My question, to achieve this, whats better to remove? Middle muffler? Or Resi?

Cheers, Dave

i have a one muffler system, it only drones if you sit at 2400rpm+ so a drone at 140isnt a problem :)

Delete the rear muffler - not too loud and gives a good note. Don't remove the resonator or it will drone.

I got rid of the rear resi and left the 2 mufflers. But i like the sound of it and alot of people that hate that exhaust thing...well like it :).

How did you find those x-force extractors. I mean i only ever seen them at midas car care.

the X-Force extractors have turned out great, give out a nice note with the sports exhaust, although i want it a bit louder. As for power figures, im still yet to get it dyno'd... might wait til ive installed my cam

Im happy with them though, and im always one to be the guinea pig, so if the power figures show what ive noticed, ill give it them thumbs up

They got long a*** primaries, and pretty short secondaries, so they appear to suit top end power, I do notice a little lacking down low with them (auto), although having said that the cam I'm running won't help the situation.

The thickwall stainless seems to give it a nice note, alot less 'tinny' IMO.
Stainless goes funky colours on #6 primary too

Dave, I'm guessing trueflow did it  ?
They did mine as well, I got middle muffler and hotdog resi in the tailpipe.
Nice and loud when you give it some, but quiet on the freeway.

actually, Taylah Made Exhausts in Melton did it...

You're right, down low it is a little lacking, but im running a T5, so its not such a problem, and once i get the R3 cam in, it definately wont be a problem.

What initially attracted me to them was i wanted to steer away from the blue pacies, and these stainless chrome look awesome in a clean engine bay (going to chrome the intake manifold too to match)

Anyway, off to work, another s**t of a day

Hey Dave,

My cat-back is 2.5" like everyone elses, but it's only got the centre muffler and a hotdog. It sounds awesome at idle, awesome under acceleration, and is quiet as a mouse on the freeway until about 140-150km/h.... Mine is a custom job though, so that may be making all the difference, as when I went to get it done everyone I spoke reckoned it would drone. But if I was you, i'd swap the resi for a hotdog and see how you go....

im running a set of genies, with standard cat and single middle muffler, then striaght through from there. it runs nicely, pures like a kitten and doesnt get droning until about the 2500rpm range, so its got, 110k on the freeway is about 2000rpm so its just nice. but when ya give her a boot full its nice and loud.

hmmmm, i might talk to the guy up at TME, sounds like losing the rear muffler is a go, but ill ask about the hotdog in replace of the resi too.

Cheers for the input guys, ill let ya know how it all goes
