Each to their own, what ever makes you happy, what ever you want man.
My exhaust is 2.5 and pacie comps, its just the right amount of noise, quite with a deep rumble, and it growls when i want.

Most new cars sound s**t compared to old school V8's, My NF V8 hardly makes a noise outside and only single too - Yech sounds ok inside though, but without duals like the BA/F FG's the are sad really, sixes sound lame so best shut up and just go like the clappers instead.

my ed was pretty quiet, not much above stock, just a bit more depth to it and it stayed quiet till i took it past about 3 grand at WOT, even then it wasn't really that loud. it had a nice clean note without being loud, none of that f@rt droning sound.
no idea what brand it was, it came on the car when i bought it

hey guys, i have an EF that i have just purchased and i want to turn it into my friday night cruiser.
it has clean paint, i have lowerd it, put a stereo in it, and put a set of 19's on it.
the car came with a 2 and a half inch cat back, without a rear muffler. it is fairly loud, but i have a stock system in my shed that will fit it.
now, in the end i want to maybe tickle the head up a bit, possibly some gears and put the biggest camshaft the stock converter will allow.
so it wont be anything special.
the majority of the miles it will be doing will be on the prinny on a friday night, along side some pretty tuff VL turbo's, V8 commadores and s**t like that. i suppose i just want to ask what your opinion of a loud 6 is?

i personally think loud 6's are a bit wankey, but dont want to take it off if it will help the engine wake up with any future mods.
do you think it will?

From what I have fitted and tested the old 2.5in cat back exhaust does bee's d**k in performance gain. If you swap out a busted stock exhaust that has 150000km+ with a new 2.5in sports exhaust you will notice a difference. But if you swap it out with a brand new or low km stock exhaust you will not notice any difference in performance except for the exhaust note.

EF II Fairmont GHIA XR6 Tickford motor + stock exhaust 162kw flywheel
EF II XR6 Sedan Tickford motor + 2.5in exhaust 164kw flywheel

So that equates to about 1.3 RWKW, very noticeable...........

2.5" press bent not mandrel from Ford though. If you only go for one muffler or a muffler and a resi theres also less restriction again. You will get more than 1.3rwkw out of a catback.

To be honest I've got a full system on my car eg extractors 2.5" mandrel high flow cat supposedly muffler and a resi, it's actually reasonably quiet, but drop my fuel from about 13 -10 L/100, at the time, although that could be more to do with a less than 14-15 yr old system with 200,000 ks of soot buildup.

Naturally, of course, many of you are about 20 and still on your Ps. Don't worry, maturity might kick in sometime soon when you end up knocking up your fat girlfriends and can't spend any more money on your cars.

God I hate living in Western Sydney sometimes. I know I need an exhaust, but I'm hesistant about what to get. I refuse to get one that sounds like a V8 like the rest of the losers out my way. If I wanted a V8, I could have bought a BF GT.

Lol, just a bit contradictive? Has the maturity kicked in yet?

I thought you were just a guy on struggle street who got married far too young and is paying for it now until I got to the above part of your post.

Care to elaborate? Since you claim to have worked in an investment bank and for a Merc dealership I'm thinking you became a vilified junkie and decided to borrow large to pay off your dealer instead of cop a bullet to the head.

Absolutely none of what you claim you are makes sense.
