ok the car is an I6 EL Fairmont ghia, i have changed plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor button also had injectors cleaned properly. it doesent have an aftermarket cam in it. the only thing i can think of is the timing or the lobes on the cam have worn abnormaly for some reason.

the only work its had done concerning the cam is the timing chain, gear and other parts were replaced but that was over two years ago othe than that the motor is in A1 condition. any sugestions???????

Have you run diagnostics?

could be a vacuum leak. Check the vacuum hoses for splits and spray some carby cleaner around the intake manifold gasket and listen for a change in rpm.

Using either a kiddies toy stethescope, or a piece of garden hose, listen for air leaks at the injectors. The o-rings are old enough now to be a bit brittle and leaky.

New o-rings from Fraud are $10ish each,(you need 12  ) so it is cheaper to go to ebay and buy a set of reco'd injectors for $105 delivered.

Cured my idle problems 8-)

Since the injectors have been removed and installed - have the electrical connectors been fitted and clipped correctly ???

If you don't know when the fuel filter has been changed last, then a new one might be wise.

Check the base timing when checking diagnostics.

While you've got the timing light out - check each plug lead for regular pulsing.

I had a rough idle and it was a blown inlet manifold gasket. I was told to run the motor and spray WD40 along the join of the manifold and head. When it came to the area where air was leaking in the idle changed. I tightened the manifold bolts a little and it was all good. Then I replaced the gasket to make sure.

the caps in the ecu. a thread was done a while ago on it.

the go real easy, solder some new ones in and that can solve the issues.
