Im posting an image of what happins when your muffler becomes blocked and the exhaust has no where to go.

So if you ever feel your car hesistate or it sound like u have an exhaust leak get it checked! Cause when she blows it sounds like a shotgun going off next to your head (honest)

cruising at 100km/h, and i hav just gotten the car running gr8 with a major service and new tyres then this happen.

I also had to get home which was 30k away and anytime it goes over 1500rpm it backfires like a shotgun an pieces of muffler fall onto the road, not fun driving at 55km/h on a 100km/h country road. rather boring i would say.

Im just hoping the CAT's ok then again it could b the cause of the bloakage in the first place

mine on the laser resembled that very closely. was a cheap way to make the car louder but the exhaust gas coming inside the car was bad. Luckily it was fixed the next day

Should've pulled the muffler off and run without the cat back until you got home... that would have been a hell of a loud drive hahaha.

Engine is over fueling or not igniting all its mixture ? I would assume the cat is guttered also for this to happen..
Check timing and ignition condition??
Also map sensor & vac hoses to it...
Check or replace 02 sensor if its done over 100,000 on them..
Intake & coolant temp sensors ??
Lean will cause backfire through inlet and or exhaust..
Rich mixture can cause explosions such as this...

nice one, my old man rear tail pipe section came off about 2 weeks ago, sounded funny but yea, came off from behind the muffler just before the diff, so i ripped the rear section completely off and it was louder than my car, haha, $170 for a new rear section.

Ive replaced the muffler today, still ran like s**t so took it to the mechanics, they pulled a lead off and plugged in a spark plug, verdict weak spark caused by dying coil, f**K more money.

so more or less fuel built up in the muffler till it ignited blowing my muffler to bits.

yer theres no chance of that being caused by a blocked exaust. blocked exaust will see you not driving anywhere, not at a normal pace anyway. been there done that.

looks more like a over-done key banga incident which is fairly unlikely for an injected car.
