My 4th year gets $40 a week above award wage.

But it really depends on the persons ability to produce quality work in a timely manner.

I have always held the opinion that good efficient work should be rewarded and more money my staff bring in the more I will pay them.

I buy lunch every Friday, Don't ask questions if they come to me needing time off for appointments ect. They have free use of the workshop after hours and on weekends.
They also work a true 38 hour week. Not work 8-5 5days and only get paid for 38hours like some of my previous employers used to do.

Isn't the minimum Adult award wage $13.00/hr these days?

7 bucks an hour? f**k I get more than that even though its not worth getting out of bed to work at the moment.

That means you're a trainee mate, not an apprentice.
I got $7.30 1st year. Trainee at the time was getting $11 something, thought he was king s**t too, C*** was too good to sweep the floor, then was cut when I was getting to do timing belts and head gaskets ( as a first year) while he was cleaning out drums and replacing globes.
I feel like I should be above award wage, but times are rough so I take what I can get with a smile on board.

last i checked you didn't get signed up as an apprentice when you're a trainie, my work shop decided to pay above the award, they hired four of us from the same school, i swept floors, i de burred s**t, i measured drill bits, i moved furniture for the first month then they sacked the forman and i started getting my jobs straight from the owner and have been doing boring and weld preps with a tolerance of 0.03

How can you be a school based apprentice? You go to school and work you're a trainee, unless you're apprenticeships gonna take like 6 years?
You are talking mechanical apprenticeship right?

nope i'm talkin fitting and turning, when i walk out of grade 12 i walk into a 2nd year apprentership, i've done my cert 1 in engineering in the school trade training centre, my work has set it up so i go to work 3 days one week in the middle of the term and then back to school for 5 then go for 2 weeks then back to school for 5 and do 3 days again, so i can start and finish jobs not start something walk out and never see the end of it

Bro that's why you get payed so much <_<
Mechanics get the least usually.
That's good you can do that.
I did a Tvet course in 11 an 12 that was ment to get me in as a 2nd year but the single electrical circuits unit ( wich I aced 100% ) went missing when then new automotive building was set up. And the board wouldn't change my score from a 0% so basically I failed. But you get that.

You're the man.

Good on ya tho, I did the same, for my 3 month trial I show up 15 early, 7:15, opened up shop, took out all the cars, sweep the entire shop, emptied every bin, cleaned the drain trays, wiped down the 7 hoists ect. Prooved myself and now I still do all that when I can but since they get me onto jobs at 8 and I start at 7:45 now I don't get the time to do as good of a open but I make my weeks wage in a day easy.
And it's good cos since I made such an effort to clean and help everyone I've never been talked to or treated like a apprentice.
