Just don't drive like a knob and the cops wont have a reason to pull you over and look under your bonnet.

Run the stock heatshield and they wont even see it.
I had my car running a full exhaust, cam, intake, tune etc. the whole time i was on my p's. Never got asked to even pop the bonnet. Dont drive like you stole it and there wont be a reason to.

One of my mates had pacemaker extractors and a custom exhaust with a hotdog on his car and never had a problem. Even though it was clearly over 100Db, he just made sure not to disturb anyone with it, kept the revs down around his suburb, didn't drag race round the town etc.

Got pulled over a few times for breath tests, once for doing 4 over the speed limit  the cops never said a word about it though ;)

my brother has an Au Falcon, with pacemakers, high flow cat, and 2.5 redback exhaust with only a centre muffler and he is on p's. he drives normally and gets left alone

Live in same town as you, I had full system on both my EL and now my BF when I was on P plates.
The cops here are pretty good as long as you don't drive like a d**k and ask to be pulled over.
