hey guys,

last night i washed my car and moved it around 2 take sum pictures and i start and stopped it a few times and when i went to leave turned the key and nothing happened.

at first i thought the battery was flat so me and some mats push started it and it was showing full voltage, went to start it this morn and same thing happened again...

so im thinking the starter motor is gone.
what do you guys think? it has bonnet vents as well so water could have gotten into something but i was careful not to get water in them as much as possible

cheers

any help is greatly appreciated

If all your dashboard lights and symbols come on, give the dashboard a whack just above your left knee. 8-)

A common problem: dry joint in your BCM (Body Control Module) which also is linked to the starter motor

Forgot to say give it a whack while holding the key in the "start" position (most important!)

yes its common to have dodgy connection on the bcm. My ED used to do it. if i wanted it to start i had to hold the key in the start position and release the hand brake this would restore proper conductivity through the BCM.

your problem may be different though.

you say it was fine once push started, so this rules out spark / fuel

could very well be the starter motor ---> there will be a small wire going to your starter solenoid, remove this. plug a test light onto a good solid grout (one of the nuts on the shocker tower will suffice) probe the wire that goes to the solenoid whilst someone turns the key.
if the test light lights up there is power to the starter. if not then theres no power to the starter--->> check/replace starter relay and repeat the above.

NOTE: When probing the starter solenoid motor ENSURE IT IS DISCONECTED if not the motor may turn over and at best scare the s**t out of you if your under the car and at worst you may injure your self.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
any of the above steps is a GUIDE ONLY, all responsibility lays on you. if you dont feel confident troubleshooting then get qualified mechanic to do it.
