Hey all.
What needs to be done to get the FG Barra 195 engine into my EL Falcon and converting it to manual.
My car is already manual box BUT the FG Barra 195 only comes auto slushbox lol ...
Is it only an engine mount mod needed ? to car or block ?
Also i'd like to put Tremec 6 shift behind it .. is there a bell housing for this conversion ?
And what about the ECU .. will i need an aftermarket ECU as the factory FG ECU is for autoslushic slushbox lol ?
Any help/coments/suggestions please.
Thank you all.
Rodney

the fg comes with 6 speed manual.
but there is added costs of modified hyd clutch, tailshaft ect... or you can use your 5 speed with a au bellhousing.
if you use the fg engine you will need to use a ba/bf sump and oil pick up, modify your el k frame, use your el engine mounts, and use a fg or ba loom ecu ect, a flash tuner will be needed to remove the ecu security, or if your hard core? you can custom fit the whole b series dash, bcm and wiring to suit..if your not great with wiring and welding, it will cost you around 7-10g+

or you could spend that money and make the sohc from your el produce more power than the fg engine will....

If u go to put the dash and stuff in ull have to cut a bit out of the panel in the el that the demister comes out of..
Also need a bit out of the trans tunnel to mount the dash and heater box...while ur doing that stuff might as well put a b series k frame in for the engine..
Im currently putting bf dash engine k frame and wiring into a el as well..I got a fair bit of my info from the three troyman has there...
Basically get a wrecked fg or ba/f from a auction or wrecker and swap everything..
Read the dohc into ed conversion thread he did the complete swap wheres the other two kept the e series dash

You won't get the FG ECU working in anything but an FG.

You won't find an aftermarket ECU capable of operating the variable volume plenum.

At this stage in the FG life You are better off doing a conversion using a BA/F engine.

Fg's have a rear sump.

Not sure whether you could fit a BA/F pick up and pan.

Out of curiousity and not related to a 6, does anyone know if FG xr8's (modular) used the same pick up as the GS/GT(coyote)?

Thanks for your info mate, you've made me ditch the FG engine idea for an AU2 engine, there's pleanty around that have already been moded to fit into an E series and all i have to do is make a sump to fit, besides i can do head work for ALOT cheeper.
Still a few questions though ..
1) Is the EL block and the AU2 block capable of same horsepower ?
2) Does the EL T5Z geargox and bellhousing fit straight on the AU2 enging ?
3) Will the EL ECU work here ?

Thanks dude :)

No factory EL's had a t5z except maybe the GT. Obviously a v8 box won't fit behind the 6. If you are staying N/A a t5 should be fine, depending of course upon application and how you drive.

If you are staying N/A an AU engine is a better bottom end in stock form and has better heads. If you are going forced an EL engine will be a better proposition, as rods are significantly stronger.

Out of curiousity why? Is this something to do with security?
