am the proud owner of a 2008 Ford FG XR6 Turbo (ZF 6-speed auto), which I purchased from Ford in mid-2009 (former executives car).

About a month ago, I was driving & an ABS fault dinged (wasn’t on the brakes)

2-weeks ago I drove the car, parked it & cleaned the interior
While cleaning, the accessories were on (iPod running) and it turned the audio off twice.

When finished; the car failed to start (fan started & car clicked), stating Airbag Fault + ABS Fault + Comms Fault.
It was thought to be a battery issue & the car was placed on charge.
After approximately 30 minutes, the key was turned again and this time only the fan started (no clicking).
The battery was changed and no change occurred.

Vehicle immobilised

The car was jump started & it ran in limp mode only (Airbag + ABS + Comms Fault remain on)

It was towed to a known tuner (who has always serviced my car) & they have never seen this before.
It was as if ALL the information on the ECU had been wiped.
There were numerous fault codes & these were cleared, however, 4 fault codes can not be erased at all.

Readings as per Multiscan plus:

P1000
P1260
U1900
U2514

I have been advised the issue is pointing towards the Mechatronnics Unit (TCM), they are now on there 3rd unit for "testing" as the car keeps reject the sync (I believe there are different product numbers for the TCM's and these need to match.

My concern is, are they chasing an issue for the sake of it OR is this an issue people have seen ?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think they are chasing it for the sake of it. I had the same problem with my car. Parked it, cleaned it audio on etc, went to start it and they same thing that you had happened to me. Plugged in the scantool and had similar codes to you.

I completely disconnected and removed the battery, and charged it for a few hours just in-case it was low voltage. Reconnected the battery, plugged in the scantool and all error codes were gone.

apart from this, if the codes remain...cant help unfortunately except to ask ford what the codes actually link too

cheers

I'm beggining to agree with you Andrew.

"supposedly" the software technician (tuner using an outside party) has the Ford IDS tool to diagnose it, however, I'm just feeling lost with it all & I'm about to pull the car out & have it shipped to a Ford Service Centre.

I changed the battery & left it for a while, however, it didnt clear.

My thoguht is the vehicle has "locked" itself down.....

ive had similar faults show on my fg, was caused by a cactus battery. although mine went as soon as new battery in. when removing the battery did you connect the leads to a alternate power source to protect any info? was the battery perhaps put in the wrong way round first up?

Sounds like the battery carked it, and if they are anything like a VE you need to buy the exact right battery as the battery is integrated into the CAN system, I also think you have to keep power to the terminals using a jump pack or similar when you remove the battery otherwise they can wipe, or need to have all the modules linked again.

why dont u just take it to ford rather than a tuner. Sure - the tuner can tune the car to get more power - but i suspect they dont often see cars that dont go.
