Each time I start my car when it's warm after previous driving, the engine goes straight into a 2 second whiny flare up to about 1000 or 1200 RPM and down to normal levels again. It's weird. Should it be doing this at every startup?

flush your trans oil if dirty, top up if low. that stopped my cold morning 1st to 2rd flaring.

Morning cold starts is okay, doesn't flare then. It's after I start it once it's already been running or warm.

Just sounds like the ISC doing its thang. So long as it comes back down i wouldnt stress...

Cold mornings here in SA, i start my car and it usually stalls (my poor baby sleeps out in the open air at night). Turn the key again and she fires up to about 1000rpm as if to say "right, i'll do it properly this time!!".

Strange.
Doesn't matter if the weather is really cold or really hot or the car is starting from cold or already warm, it just fires up evenly each time.
