a modded i6 will be ahead of the ls1 and ls2 until we hit 3rd gear (manual) which is about 100kmh, after that its time to show them your brake lights to rub it in...
if you dont stop at that point and try to keep going in 3rd gear you will only be embarrassed by them as they drive past with ease!

The LS1-2 engines are s**t off the line because they are a part marketing/ part top end engine. They moved the torque band further up in the rev range to generate a higher KW figure which is what market research decided sells more cars in the performance segment. Yes 307 kw is all fine and dandy, but when it leaves you empty from idle to 3000 rpm, your in trouble. Same with the Boss motors. Both ford and holden are engaged in a KW war and its producing very fast cars once they are moving at the expense of a decent motor. To make both the boss and the LS motors run hard all the way through you need a good supercharger and other sundry pieces that go with it.

Then again it comes down to preferance. If you want heaps up top, then these engines are great.

gimme low down useable torque any day. nothing worse then having to rev the guts out of something to get it moving. also makes the buggers wear out quicker..

Being in the profession, Commodores are the one of the worst cars to work on, as in minor repairs and servicing. One of the easiest are the EA to AU Falcons.
The IRS system that holden was using, from VN to VX/VZ is total crap. You put 3 people in the back, a full tank of fuel, and head off on a trip, the rear tyres are toast in 500km. Its a semi-trailing arm setup, how archaic is that.

Holden fans will always resort to the sales figures when their down, it's a rule of thumb. Holden are marketing gods, most of the poulation know jack s@#t about cars and hence get sucked in.

hence the people who always point at bathurst wins. IE the cars at bathurst have nothing to do with the cars you buy in the showroom.
