First up tried searching but couldn't find anything about it in depth,,

basically gonna change rear main seal and thought should do front has well, is their anything to look out for when taking off the harmonic balance pulley and keeping it at TDC etc?, and do these seal require any sealant of some sort or is it just a simple plug in has is?

Thanks.

Oil seals need some fresh oil before installation.

Put a small amount of silicone on Crankshaft Keyway before installing the Harmonic Balancer.

The OD of the seal should be clean and dry.
A small amount of oil or grease on the ID.

DO NOT put any sealer on the crank before you put the balancer back on. It will ooze out on the inside of the engine.
If you must, put a small amount on the retaining bolt washer.

First off....what is the condition of the seal surface of the HB ???
If it is grooved, you will need to determin whether the HB is any good, ie; rubber is hanging out, swollen, etc.
If the HB is OK, apart from a groove in it, you will need to fit a speedi-sleeve.
When I fit a HB seal, I use like WD40 on the OD, and engine oil on the ID.
Then as per Ford directions, apply some silicone ( I use Grey Maxx ) to the outer part of the Keyway on the balancer......this is to stop oil creeping up the keyway.
I use a Holden upper spindle bolt to refit the HB, as it is the same thread, just longer, and use the Ford HB washer.
These are the tools I use for the job.
