Had the coil pack and fuel filter replaced, and since then the trips been reading 11.5-12, before which it was 10.5-11.

The mech said he fuel filter which was fitted didnt flow as well as the one he replaced it with. I forgot what he said they flowed, but he said there was a 5kpa?? difference.... maybe 5 psi.... meh anyway -

Does the computer need to be reset? or am I just gunna have to put up with it?

A different filter wouldn't make that much of a difference??? Unless the old one was rediculously blocked??

I've never noticed changes in economy from a filter change.

My EL had the best fuel economy with a blocked fuel filter...9L/100km...changed it over and BAM 14L/100km. That was when I just got the car and the fuel filter was literally blocked to s**t. After trying to blow through it 3 times, eventually all the black soot that was in it came out. It was chunky.

But yes, the fuel filter could have played a role in your fuel economy.

I dont know whether it was a good or bad thing, the car has more power above 4k rpm to redline - it used to feel a bit choked. The old fuel filter was pretty blocked up, but I didnt think it was thaat bad... no real chunks just a bit of sludge.

If it was blocked enough to cause the car to run lean, the ECU would have seen this in closed loop operation and learnt around the lean condition.
So when a new filter went in, flow picked up, and it runs rich.
ECU reset is worth a crack to clear what the ECU has learnt.
