Hey!
I was trying to get the FPR out today, I managed to get the circlip off (damn that was a b**ch, some WD40 helped...), but despite that the damn thing wouldn't come apart!

I wanted to open it up so I could check the filter inside it, something I thought might help the excessive fuel consumption.

Any tricks or tips for getting the damn thing to open?

(2003 BA XR6)

Cheers :)

just rip it out and fit a new one.. the filter screen sometimes splits when the reg is removed, as the bottom o ring cracks the plastic when removed..

its something that generally don't need cleaning, unless you have big problems with dirt in fuel system...

Okay, is it hard to fit a new one? Is it really as simple as just tugging on it real hard to pull it out? :)
I think it's the original one :)

yea you need a bit of force to get it out.. every one ive pulled out ive damaged and had to use vice grips to pull it out..

to fit the new one just lightly lube the o rings and it will go in fairly easy, might have to push a bit to get it all the way in..

Oh okay :)
I didn't know they popped out like that.
I suppose they don't have to deal with a great amount of pressure after all.

No worries then!

Thanks for the help!

Right, and you pull it out from the end of the fuel rail, right?
I've been reading the repair manual but it only tells you how to remove the whole rail lol :/

Cheers

You pull the reg upwards. If the reg was on the engine you pull upwards towards the bonnet..
