Having afew probs with my XH I6 Outback pack ute. Has the two fuel tanks fitted from the factory.
Long involved story that started when i ran out of fuel once on one of the tanks.
Since then it surges under cruise at about 110 in 5th.
Other probs are * Fuel drains back after sitting for a short while requiring extra cranking..or turn the key on and off a couple of times to get the fuel back up to the rail/injectors.
* surges and plays up over about 4500 rpm. Used to rev nice to 5300..
The problems are the same on either tank.

Recent Work : Changed the fuel filter twice ( gen Ford )..
: Checked everywhere for any sign of a leak..none found.
: New injectors.
: New leads and plugs.

The pumps in both tanks run ok when i bridge out the terminal, but once of them has a distinctly slower sound.

I intend to change both pumps .

Are some pumps better than others i should i just go for gen ford ?

The Ford ones are better in my opinion, they are expensive, about $500 each retail. Yes that would be the prob, easy when you have to crank for awhile to get it started. Also check condition of pressure regulator.

Do you know if anyone does and aftermarket tank for the XG/XH ute. Was thinking about putting the outback setup on the old girl but don't wanna muck around with 2 pumps and switch. I just want one BIG tank. lol any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Have you made sure the fuel cap isn't the problem?
