hey guys.. i dunno if anyone has had a problem similar to this one.. i've tried searching but been unable to come up with anything...

oh.. and the car is an '89 EA II Falcon S, MPI, 5 Speed

ok.. the problem is.. when i turn the car on.. the temp guage goes to max.. the temp light come on... when i start the car.. the tacho works... and all the other guages are dead... the temp light stays on.. and the temp guage stays at max...

this was happening when i first got the car... i juggled some wires around the battery/alternator.. and that seemed to fix the problem...my alternator died recently.. and i had to get my mechanic to replace it for me.. coz i didn't have time to do it myself... when i got the car back.. the guages were back to being faulty again.. (after about 5 months of working fine).. they disturbed the wiring around the battery/alternator .. and that caused the problem to come back...

any one have any ideas what might be the cause?..

Thanks
Trent
