G'day

I.m new to fordmods, i just brought a El Fairmont Ghia about a month ago and this week the head gasket went  Anyway when the cover was off today i notice the head had no tickkie badge
Here the deal
Car build dec 97
engine x
head 96da 6090

Does this mean it is a hybrid?
Isn't 96da a std head?

What the hell have i brought :?

pretty sure 96DA is hybrid.

weird, seeing as Dec 97 should be series one, meaning non-hybrid. unless someone has swapped the head/engine at some point.

The head may have been replaced under warranty? and, maybe Ford made it Dec97 but didn't plate it until 98? Leave the VIN no for me ( in a PM) and I will check it out. :)

AU head gasket is the way to go and of course a new set of Head bolts but no need for any GOO. Just make sure all is clean.

thanks, yeah it getting done properly, head been sent off to get machined. What i ment was there was already some red filler around the front of the block (like it had been done badly before i got it...hmmm)

I think he just means the silicone at the front, on the top of the timing case, sealing it between the head. This is not a bad thing, nothing dodgy. Should have had a rubber seal there too tho.

96DA is a hybrid standard head.

96DT is a hybrid tickford head, which does have the T cast into the front.

Someones obviously changed the head on you at some stage without realising.

Anything ending with a DT will do, 94DT or 95DT preferably. Thats if you want Tickford.

Out of curiosity, what is the block part number. This can be found on the drivers side, at the back of the block, on the ridge where the sump meets the block.

you will find its covered partially by the gearbox support bracket.

it will either start with 94da,96da,vr1 or wr1
